We’re growing community philanthropy in Australia.
Community Foundations Australia (CFAus) is the national support organisation for Australia’s community foundations. Established in 2007 by and for community foundation practitioners, we are a not-for-profit organisation and registered charity.
CFAus works closely with the community foundations and community funds in our network to help unlock the potential of the resources within local communities. We believe that strengthening the infrastructure and capabilities of communities at the grassroots level is the best path to achieving an equitable, inclusive and sustainable future for all Australians.
The groups in our network are community-owned foundations that use their first-hand knowledge of local issues to support, protect, and nourish the communities from which they’ve grown. This people-led, bottom-up structure allows them to do so with a unique degree of responsiveness and agility.
Community Foundations Australia supports organisations and individuals that are dedicated to community-led, place based philanthropy through a range of programs, projects and regular events. Our members benefit from a range of services focused on building connections and developing skills.
CFAus helps to build and support a burgeoning network of community philanthropists and foundations by offering leadership and advocacy for the sector. We celebrate our sectors’ victories, engage in research and analysis, and develop relationships with key stakeholders to create a national environment where community foundations thrive.

We bring together community foundations across Australia in a network that is more than the sum of its parts. We also connect our sector to others who share our values and who work in community philanthropy.
We offer training, peer learning opportunities, advice and support for capacity building, and develop tool kits. Our online resources hub is a place for members to share information and experience and explore resources in their own time for self-paced learning.

We build the profile of community foundations beyond our sector by publishing news and research, offering thought leadership on key issues, and engaging with partners and peers nationally and internationally.
In coalition with partners and stakeholders, we advocate for targeted public policy reform to create a more enabling operating environment for community foundations.
